Includes materials pertaining mostly to Coursen Conklin's endeavors as a physician, particularly medical studies and articles that he published, various correspondence which highlight his services a doctor in the U.S. Army reserve, certificates, and special case histories from some of his patients. Coursen Conklin, Sr.'s wife, Mary Conklin, also has her own series, mostly related to her occupation as nurse at Garfield Memorial Hospital.

Coursen B. Conklin, Sr., (1884-1952) graduated from George Washington University with a degree in medicine in 1907. In 1909 he began practicing medicine in the District of Columbia and received a M.A. in medicine in 1928. From 1922 to 1938 he served as secretary to the District Medical Society and was a member of numerous other medical organizations, playing key roles in many of them.
